Currently, my practical project is directing itself more towards experimentation with background design and how it can be important in telling a story. Looking at animations which use live action footage as background has led me to apply that to illustrative backgrounds. Experimenting with that variable brought the Kuleshov effect to my attention, so now I am investigating how background can create mood and tone to affect a narrative in my practical work. This has also been affected by research into colour scripts, theory and association in my essay.
I am currently planning on addressing the use of media, colour, sentient space, and the Kuleshov effect in different background experiments- which I hope to make into a draft zine to show the flow of my experimentation.
